چکیده

We describe the case of a 47-year-old man who came to our center to be assessed for refractive surgery in 2007. The initial scan (instillation of 3 drops of cyclopentolate 1%) revealed a corrected distance visual acuity of 20/60 with +0.50 –9.50 × 10° in OD and 20/60 with +1.25 –9.50 × 165° in OS. We performed laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) in both eyes using a bicylindrical approach after marking the horizontal axis using the slit lamp. Six months later, residual astigmatism was treated with arcuate keratotomy in both eyes. To the best of our knowledge, LASIK has not been previously applied in a patient with such a high degree of astigmatism. In addition, no complications were observed and the patient was satisfied with the outcome of treatment.

LASIK for post penetrating keratoplasty astigmatism and myopia.

AIMS To report the results of a series of patients who were treated with LASIK to correct post penetrating keratoplasty ametropia. METHODS 26 eyes of 24 patients underwent LASIK to correct astigmatism and myopia after corneal transplantation; 14 eyes also received arcuate cuts in the stromal bed at the time of surgery. The mean preoperative spherical equivalent was -5.20D and the mean preoper...

Long-term outcomes after mechanized arcuate keratotomy for the correction of astigmatism after keratoplasty.

The management of high postoperative astigmatism remains a major challenge for corneal refractive surgeons and various techniques have been evaluated.1 The recent introduction and development of femtosecond laser-assisted keratotomy could potentially combine a wide range of corrections with the accuracy and safety of laser treatment.2,3 Assessing the long-term visual and keratometric outcomes o...

Clear lens extraction to correct hyperopia in presbyopic eyes with or without arcuate keratotomy for pre-existing astigmatism.

This retrospective study evaluates visual (functional) and refractive outcome of correcting hyperopia (i.e. 2.5 D or more) by means of a cataract procedure and simultaneously the pre-existing clinical significant astigmatism (1.5 D or more with the rule; 1 D or more against the rule), if present, by means of an arcuate keratotomy. Nine eyes undergoing clear lens extractions with intraocular len...

Arcuate transverse keratotomy remains a useful adjunct to correct astigmatism in conjunction with photorefractive keratectomy.

PURPOSE To retrospectively evaluate the effectiveness of paired, arcuate transverse keratotomy (Arc-T) performed prior to or after photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) to correct low to moderate amounts of natural or laser-induced astigmatism. METHODS Spherical PRK was performed in 730 eyes for myopia of -1.00 to -7.00 D. PRK with arcuate transverse keratotomy was performed in 150 of these eyes;...
